Mary Beth Rogers wrote the biography, “Barbara Jordan: An American Hero.” She says that most people remember Jordan for her role in investigating the Watergate scandal and her speech regarding the impeachment of President Richard Nixon.

“She actually turned the tide in the country toward impeachment,” Rogers says.

But Rogers says that there’s a whole new generation that hasn’t heard of Jordan or her or her achievements as a Texas state senator or member of Congress.

Now, they have a chance to learn. The Barbara Jordan Freedom Foundation is showing a free exhibit of artifacts and memorabilia from the Barbara Jordan Collection at Texas Southern University. It’s in the rotunda of the Texas Capitol through Feb. 22.
