Texan Bonnie Bishop has a new record, “I Ain’t Who I Was.” She tells the story of how it came to be.
Bishop says she called a friend, the head of Thirty Tiger Records, one night before she moved back to Texas. She’s been on the road 12 years, put out five records independently, but she had never worked to produce one with a label.
“I started to just break down mentally and physically on the road,” Bishop says. “The lifestyle had beaten me up all those years, and for the first time in my life I was entertaining the thought that I needed to quit and do something else.”
