Fans and fellow musicians are mourning the death of songwriter and poet David Berman. He died last Wednesday. He was 52. For two decades, he led a group called Silver Jews, formed initially with members of the indie rock band, Pavement. Just this summer, he released an album with his newest band, Purple Mountains, and was planning to tour.
Berman passed away in Brooklyn but spent part of his childhood in North Texas. D Magazine’s Matt Goodman remembers Berman.
