Typewriter Rodeo: Fall

Each week, the Standard reaches out to Austin’s Typewriter Rodeo for a custom poem on Texas topics.

Fall

It is like that box

Of 64 crayons

Spilled out

And then make a pile

Of bonfire shades

Oranges yellow siennas

Browns vermillions ochres

And now pick a leaf

Use this color, then another

Let the moon

Cast its shadow

Let the chill

Give the hue

A nice crisp

Shake

And now watch each one

Each leaf

A bonfire blossom

A bit of starry nights

And pumpkin fields

Of apple cider dreams

All come

To life
