Hiking
When the world is loud
and waiting
I will be escaping
into deep woods
just wind in trees
as background music,
following a winding path
to what? It doesn’t matter
a peak, a cool stream,
maybe just
a mind
with space to breathe
to remember how the roots
hold us up,
tell secrets underground
how the rivers know
just where
to flow to
how all the answers
can be found
in the next silent
step.
