Home prices across Texas, and especially in some of its major cities, have risen steeply. The costs are also being passed along to those who rent. That was the inspiration for this Typewriter Rodeo poem.
Housing Prices
They are shooting
Through the roof!
Ten percent, twenty
And now just — oof!
If you own it might
Make you relax
Until you check
Your property tax
If you rent it might
Seem so daunting
If buying someday
Is what you’re wanting
When will it end?
Who’s behind it all?
Will this rocket-like market
Ever stall?
Of course no one knows
What the future will hold
But this pace, forever?
I’m not sold.
